Itinerary Name: 2-Day Holiday at Ancient Luxiang Village by the side of Lake Taihu near Suzhou from Shanghai with Traffic+Hotel Service

Some Photos of Baojiantang Hall (ancient classical Suzhou style garden) inside Luxiang Village by the side of Lake Taihu, Suzhou:

1. How many days it would be suitable to stay at Luxiang Village?

Normally 2 Days / 1Night at Luxiang Village is enough.

2. How to get to Luxiang Village from Shanghai?

Tourists can take a bullet train from Shanghai to Suzhou Railway Station (only around 30 minutes on the way). The 2nd class bullet train ticket fee is CNY 70 one way include service fee. Please note, it should be Suzhou Railway Station which is right to the north of ancient Suzhou City Wall, do not get to Suzhou Yuanqu Railway Station or Suzhou North Railway Station.

It is around 55 km from Suzhou Railway Station to Luxiang Village. So there are two ways from Suzhou Railway Station to ancient Luxiang Village:

1) By Taxi:

After arriving at Suzhou Railway Station, tourists can follow the signs at the station to the taxi station. It will take around 1 hour 10 minutes / CNY 200 one way from Suzhou Railway Station to Luxiang by taxi.

When returning back to the Railway Station, you can ask the hotel to reserve a taxi for you. Because the village is in the remote area, maybe it would not be very easy to take a taxi leaving the village. But it is also easy to take bus back to Suzhou Railway Station.

2) By Bus:

Taking Bus No. 502 from the South Plaza of Suzhou Railway Station to Dongshan People Hospital West Station (24 Minutes / 120 Minutes), then change to Bus No. 629 at the same station to Luxiang Village (17 stops / 30 minutes)

3. How to tour in and near Luxiang Village?

We suggest tourists can enjoy the unique lakeside village atmosphere in the village. There are many ancient houses, gardens and temple in the village. Tourists can visit Huihe Hall (The Residence of Mr. Wang Ao – the prime minister in Ming Dynasty around 600 years ago), Huaide Hall, Suigao Hall, Cuihe Hall, Hangu Temple in the village. Meanwhile, you can also taste the nice authentic local dishes and enjoy the famous local Biluochun Tea in the Baojiantang Hall or in the village.

There are also some more famous attractions near the village, such as Zijin (Purple Gold) Nunnery in the Dongshan Mountain (East Mountain) which is famous for its ancient Painted Sculptures and Linwu Cave in the Xishan (West Mountain) Island. But tourists should take a taxi to Zijing Nunnery. And Linwu Cave is in the island on the opposite of the village. If only stayed one night at Luxiang Village, maybe there would be no time to visit this cave.)

Some Info about the Zijin Nunnery (Purple Gold Nunnery)
Zijin Nunnery was 1st built in Tang Dynasty (around 1400 years ago) and has been renovated and rebuilt many times through the ages. The 16 painted Arhats statues with vivid gestures and different faces which were made by Mr. & Mrs. Lei Chao - the best sculpture artists in Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) are widely considered one of the summit of the ancient sculpture arts in China.
