More info about Xitang Town:
Xitang ancient town is located on the northeast edge of Zhejiang Province, only around 1.5 hours to the downtown Shanghai. It is level, densely distributed with rivers and has a very quiet natural environment. 9 rivers converge in this town, dividing it into 8 sections, but many bridges link this water town together (anciently called as “nine dragon holding pearl” and “wind from 8 sides”). In the town, stone-paved lanes run between age-old dwelling houses of white walls and black tiles, many well-preserved architectural groups constructed during the Ming and Qing dynasties, which boast a higher artistry and study value, thus being highlighted by the experts at home and abroad studying antique buildings. Riverside corridors are connected into a totally one-thousand-meter long corridor that is covered with roofs that protect walkers from rain and sunshine. Long and serene alleys and roofed corridors create charming and picturesque scenery that can not be found in other water towns. Every turn is another stunning photo opportunity. It is no wonder Tom Cruise used this site for his Mission Impossible III movie set.

But glamour of Xitang Ancient Town goes far beyond natural beauty. It has long history, rich culture and gives birth to a number of talents, such as Yangmao, a master of arts and crafts in Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368), Gu Xidong, a famous playwright, etc. With a history of more than 1000 years, Xitang has entered the list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Tentative Site. The trip to Xitang is also a cultural journey.

The whole old town is like a poem and a picture. In this town, people will feel that they are seemingly in an earthly paradise. It is hard to know that people exist in the picture or picture exists in the heart of people.
