Use Our Train Ticket Booking Service for the Suggested Itinerary:

We suggest tourists to take the comfortable fast train to visit the major cities along the ancient Silk Road: Jiayuguan City, Dunhuang, Turpan and Urumuqi. It is convenient and cheap. But it is better that tourists can know some Mandarin. It is because there is no English service at the railway station, and you should speak with the taxi driver to tell them where to go.

For the fast train, the seats are classified into three classes:

2nd class, 1st class and business class.

The business class is the most expensive, only 3 seats at one row.

The 1st class is with 4 seats at one row.

The 2nd class is with 5 seats at one row. But in our idea, the 2nd class seat is already comfortable enough.

For the tour in and around these cities,

You can take taxi, or if you like, you can ask us to arrange the tour for you if you like.

* For the hotel in these cities,

There are many hotels in these cities, from the luxury to the budget. You can choose yourselves. Or if you like, you can tell us your requests. We can also make our suggestions for you.

Why we suggest this tour itinerary?

The highly developed rail network makes it a fabulous and convenient way to get around in China by train. This well-connected travel route will give you train ride experience, as well as helping you explore the amazing scenery on the Silk Road.

This tour itinerary can take you to visit the major cities, most famous attractions and explore the mysterious and attractive historical Silk Route in the northwest China, where you will visit many historical wonders, ruins of ancient city and pass, and experience the Buddhist culture and Muslim culture, and the beauty of the desert, Gobi, snow mountains and mysterious lakes in West China.

This tour includes four most important key cities along the middle part of the Silk Road in China: Jiayuguan City (the west terminal of the Great Wall in Ming Dynasty), Dunhuang (for the famous Mogao Grottoes), Turpan and Urumuqi, the capital of Xinjiang Province. By visiting these places, tourists will get an overview of cultural treasures and dream-like landscapes. The highlights of this tour will be the ancient cultural treasure, Mogao Grottos with enormous exquisite murals and statues, as well as the west terminal Pass of the Great Wall in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD), the amazing Yadan landform in the National Geological Park in the Gobi deserts, mysterious and awesome Jiaohe City Ruins, Heavenly Lake on top of the Mt. Tianshan (Heaven Mountain)...

The Silk Road is one of the most worth visiting places in the world. The Silk Road passes through Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai Provinces, Ningxia Hui and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous regions in China and then stretches over the Pamirs, further extend to Central and West Asia and finally gets to the east bank of the Mediterranean Sea and Eastern Europe. The total length of the Silk Road is over 7000km, over half of which is in China.

There are numerous scenic spots and historical sites along the silk road in China: Jiayuguan Pass, the Mogao Grottoes of Dunhuang, Yangguan Pass, the Turpan Basin, Bazaar of Urumqi, Abakh Khoja Tomb, Idgar Mosque, Kashgar Old Town of Kashgar (Kashi) and many more. In this remote area, tourists can find many interesting and unique issues – includes Mogao Grottoes – the world-famous art treasury with invaluable murals and sculptures made between the 4th and the 14th centuries.
